We are seeking a Major Projects Technical Lead to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in overseeing the technical delivery of high-impact, complex projects across our ports network. You will provide expert leadership, ensuring projects are executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, while aligning with ABP’s strategic objectives and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Lead on our major projects – responsible for scope definition and management of delivery of key technical work packages. Resource priority is to be given to projects with a large-scale marine infrastructure component.
- Ensure an effective resourcing plan is established to deliver the asset workstream, utilising the existing regional organisation and the Group Professional Services Framework (GPSF).
- Provide technical support and guidance to Project Managers – leading peer reviews of technical approach, scope, design appointments and key outputs.
- Support Project Managers in asset scope definition, customer, and operational requirements.
- A member of the group projects reporting and review function for major projects to identify and support the resolution of any technical issues impacting delivery.
- A member of the GPSF management committee, responsible for driving continuous improvement on ABP's provision of consultancy services from a technical standing, seeking to improve quality of scopes, existing information, information flow and general delivery.
- Identify opportunities for programmes of work through the GPSF that could support the Group Technical Authority function and group projects delivery - such as inspections, surveys, BIM, data management etc.
- Develop and implement Group Projects technical best practice tools, and share best practice across the wider ABP group.
- Proactively identify and address risks and opportunities
About You:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive individual who combines technical expertise with outstanding leadership skills.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Significant experience managing large-scale, multidisciplinary projects in a ports, infrastructure, or logistics environment.
- Significant Design experience, with a strong preference for maritime civil design experience.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- A commitment to promoting safety, innovation, and sustainability in all aspects of work.
