Are you a marine professional looking to work as part of a dedicated team providing consultancy services to the ports, harbours and maritime sector? 

 

We are seeking a Senior Maritime Consultant to join ABPmer focussed on project management and delivery.  Working alongside other maritime specialists, you will be involved in all stages of a project from tender preparation and delivery to ongoing client support.

 

You will also be engaging with other teams in ABP and multidisciplinary consultancies, providing specialist advice and input to projects concerning proposed developments and operations. 

 

As we deliver varied projects throughout the UK and overseas, some of our project work requires site-visits and working away from home for extended periods (circa two weeks).

 

Essentials

 

Maritime operational knowledge

  • Aids to Navigation, purpose and placement
  • Passage planning (creation and review skills)
  • Towage plan (creation and review skills)
  • Vessel traffic management, under MGN 401

 

Port Navigational Risk Assessment (NRA)

  • Port regulatory and legislative understanding
  • Appreciation of Port/Marine Facility risk controls
  • Understanding of dredge methods and practice
  • Understanding of port/marine construction methods and practice

 

Technical report writing

  • Proven ability to write technical content
  • Proof reading and technical review experience
  • Expert witness (desirable)

 

Business development

  • Managing enquiries and preparing proposal documents
  • Business development including attending conferences and networking
  • Continuous improvement of techniques and tools

 

 

You should also have:

  • Degree level education
  • A mariner / port professional qualification
  • A driving licence (travel is an expectation)
  • Excellent time-management, organisational and prioritisation skills.
