Due to a pending retirement later this year we're currently looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Manager ideally with exposure to running large infrastructure sites to manage our Maintenance team across all the sites within our Southampton Portfolio. With 5 cruise terminals, a bulks terminal, multiple automotive storage facilities and handling £40 Billion of UK Exports every year this is an exciting opportunity to have a major impact on one of the busiest ports in the UK. 

 

With 6 Direct Reports and an overall team of 25 you'll play a key role in ensuring both planned and reactive maintenance is delivered in the quickest most effective way possible to ensure our Port Operations can run effectively and are compliant. You'll be an excellent people manager with strong coaching experience and used to managing multi-site operations with a diverse asset base with numerous customers. We need someone with first class management skills, with good technical knowledge, to work with internal and external stakeholders and manage the internal specialist resource and external contractors within the confines of the circa £4M maintenance budget . The strong technical background is essential involving Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil elements, although a strong Mechanical bias would be preferred.

Role Accountabilities
-  To lead and oversee all engineering maintenance requirements for the Maintenance team. This will include; people management, planning/forecasting, KPI management and general operational control techniques and efficiency improvements

-  Promote a successful Health & Safety culture, striving towards the company’s Beyond Zero behavioural safety ambitions and acting as a role model for this. Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety & Environment policies & procedures at all times.

-  Lead the delivery of front line services to internal and external customers in line with customer requirements and in a safe and efficient manner.

-  Ensure Statutory Inspections are undertaken in order to meet both statutory and ABP mandatory requirements together with constructors and or manufacturers recommendations and guidance.

-  Ensure the update of maintenance plans, activities scheduling and resource utilisation ensuring the most efficient use is made of the resources available to carryout engineering works, monitoring plant and equipment availability.

-  Establish asset performance monitoring, control and data sharing


Skills & Experience
-  Proven track record in change management and/or introduction of new working practices / processes.

-  Strong leadership background, with the ability to produce results.

-  Previous experience of day to day management of an in-house maintenance team and external contractors.

-  HNC in an Engineering discipline.

-  Good working knowledge and evidence of compliance with Health & Safety legislation; statutory legislation across a range of disciplines; a variety of maintenance strategies; P & L & cap Ex Budgets.

-  A meticulous organiser with a great attention to detail.

-  Commercially aware with strong relationship building skills.

-  Comfortable managing labour as you are liaising with key customers.

-  Experienced with commercial arrangements, managing contracts and delivering KPIs.
