Position: Weighbridge Operator
Location: Newport
We are looking for a Weighbridge Operator to join our team as the first point of contact for hauliers and customers collecting loads. Your role will include recording vehicle weights, issuing tickets, managing vehicle movements in and out, and using our stock management system (full training provided). This is a key position in ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Accountabilities

- Weighing of vehicles in & out of the site
- Record weights & other details required for the weighbridge ticket
- Raise outstanding Pre-tickets for all loads if required
- Dispatch vehicle to appropriate shed
- Raising delivery notes
- If Coil Warehouse System indicates an issue with weights, follow the “Weight Discrepancy Procedure”
- Check drivers have correct PPE and adhere to safety procedures.
- Assisting in the daily logistical and customer service by developing a full understanding of the computerised stock management system (coil warehouse).
You will also be responsible first point of contact to hauliers:

- Answering enquiries
- Liaising with the Operations department
- Actioning call-offs
- Maintaining any relevant paperwork.
Skills, experiences, qualifications, and competencies
Essential

- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong and confident communication skills.
- Ability to perform under consistent pressure while maintaining accuracy.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized.
- Proficient IT skills with the ability to learn and use new systems effectively.
- Transport or logistics experience (preferred but not essential).
The role operates Monday to Friday during core hours, but flexibility is required within the broader timeframe of 06:00 to 18:00. Team members will work 8-hour shifts, which will be arranged collaboratively to meet seasonal demands. Typical shifts might include 06:00–14:00, 08:00–16:00, or 10:00–18:00. During winter or darker weather, shifts may occasionally end earlier for safety considerations. Flexibility and teamwork are key to ensuring smooth operations.
