Position: Stock Controller
Location: Newport
Join our team as a Stock Controller, where attention to detail is key! You'll handle customer inventory lists from incoming vessels, ensuring accurate uploads into our system. The role also involves administrative tasks such as managing bank letters, addressing customer clearance enquiries, and resolving queries for the financial accountant. Accountabilities
- Ensure stock is released on systems in accordance with Customer, Bank and H.M. Customs and Excise instructions.
- Transfer stock within the system between customers as instructed.
- Produce stock reports, customer reports, vessel, outturn reports and month end reports.
- Process calls off stock from customers and ensure the information flows through Operational and Haulage departments.
- Changing of shedding bill payers and delivery bill payers to ensure accounts can process invoices.
- Liaising directly with customers by email and telephone and occasionally face to face.
- Requesting authorisation from customers to release coils for delivery.
- Ensure cargo details are received from Shippers prior to the arrival of a vessel and ensure the data is entered into the system.
- Manage the customer web interface and provide a link between the I.T. department and customers.

Skills, experiences, qualifications, and competencies
- Proven experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle consistent levels of pressure with professionalism.
- Detail-oriented with a meticulous approach to tasks.
- Strong IT skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
- Passionate about data with an organised and methodical mindset.
- Experience in transport or logistics (advantageous but not essential).
The role operates Monday to Friday during core hours, but flexibility is required within the broader timeframe of 06:00 to 18:00. Team members will work 8-hour shifts, which will be arranged collaboratively to meet seasonal demands. Typical shifts might include 06:00–14:00, 08:00–16:00, or 10:00–18:00. During winter or darker weather, shifts may occasionally end earlier for safety considerations. Flexibility and teamwork are key to ensuring smooth operations.
