Date: 29 Oct 2024
Location: Immingham, Humber, GB
Company: ABP
We’re the UK's largest ports operator with a network of 21 ports around Britain. We handle around one quarter of the UK's seaborne trade and contribute £7.5 billion to our economy every year.
It’s a story we’re proud of but it doesn’t end there. We’re transforming our business and embracing the future.
We offer a vast range of roles spanning the UK, all rooted in a culture that welcomes diversity, fosters talent, encourages internal movement and progression, and places safety as our number one priority.
The Port of Immingham is the UK’s largest port by tonnage, handling around 46 million tonnes of cargo every year. Our Immingham Container Terminal (ICT) is also an important centre for container imports, enabling customers to tranship deep-sea containers direct to Immingham on regular short-sea feeder vessels. The facility operates on a 24/7 basis and has four ship-to-shore cranes, and ten rubber-tyred gantry cranes supported by various plant and equipment.
We're currently looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter with a strong Heavy Plant background to join the team working a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern to carry out both planned maintenance, defect repairs and breakdown attendance around the Container Terminal and the wider port environment. Working within a team of 3 you'll be comfortable working independently and be able to prioritise jobs based on business necessity. You'll be responsible for maintaining Reach Stackers, Tugs, Forklift Trucks, Loading Shovels and cranes when required. A strong hydraulic and pneumatic background is essential for the role, with a good understanding of heavy plant electrical systems.
