Engineering Maintenance Lead

Role: Engineering Maintenance Lead

Location: Immingham

 

Purpose Of Role: Direct supervision of maintenance resources ensuring assets are maintained to meet operational and statutory requirements. Direct supervision to include tasks such as the installation, testing, examining, maintenance and repair of port assets and equipment across the Humber Region, ensuring priority requirements of the port are met and the use of machinery and labour is optimised.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Direct day-to-day supervision of the engineering maintenance team and contractors ensuring work practices are observed, recorded and actioned.
  • Ensure all necessary ‘Safe Systems of Work’ and ‘Risk Assessments’ are prepared, available and issued to the maintenance staff, ensuring toolbox talks and daily safety briefings are undertaken. All works are to be planned in accordance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation together with company policies and procedures.
  • Issue of safety documentation to include permits, permissions and isolation certificates in line with the permissions detailed within the respective authorisation cards.
  • Co-ordinate damage inspections with the operations and marine departments and as required third parties, formulate costs and ensure repair works are undertaken as soon as possible in a safe and cost effective manner.  Following completion of the works ensure all costs are allocated correctly.
  • Monitor and progress both fault report work and statutory inspections ensuring works are undertaken and completed as required.
  • Attend break down situations during both normal hours and out of hours in order to convey specific knowledge and give guidance.
  • Liaise with the Operations, Marine and Estates Departments and external Contractors as required in order to co-ordinate and prioritise maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for the ongoing management, development and training of team members in line with ABP Values. To undertake appraisals and to ensure team members have sufficient knowledge, through use of Skills Matrix, to be able to operate independently on a day-to-day basis.

 

Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies

  • Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent) and experience associated with mechanical engineering in heavy industry, preferably with port experience
  • Safety awareness to include CDM Regulations
  • Strong leadership skills
  • CMMS experience (Ideally Mainsaver)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Budgetary awareness
  • Computer skills

 

About You

 

You will be an experienced maintenance supervisor or manager ideally from a Ports or Heavy industry background. With a mechanical background you will take a lead role in managing the 22-strong workforce to deliver planned and reactive maintenance at our Jetties within the Immingham port. You should have prior experience of staff management, supervising time sensitive maintenance tasks and team management. Ideally educated to HNC level, this role is ideal for someone looking to progress their career and work for a leading employer in the Humber area.
