Electrical Technician

Role: Electrical Technician

Location: Immingham (occasional cover required to other Humber sites)

 

Purpose:

Ensuring maintenance works are carried out as required in order to maintain port operations.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Carryout maintenance works in a diligent and timely manner in order to meet the requirements of port operations both individually and as part of a larger team.  All in accordance with ABP’s risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Attend breakdowns / emergency situations during both normal hours and out of hours in order to carry out all necessary repairs.
  • Assist the Engineering leads to identify future maintenance requirements / repairs required.
  • Carryout maintenance works in conjunction with third party contractors as required. 
  • Extract work orders from the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), undertake the required tasks extracted and input any associated work history.
  • Communicate with both the marine, operations departments and external customers during servicing operations and the repair of plant and equipment.
  • Organise plant, labour and materials as required to undertake maintenance activities on an hour-by-hour basis.
  • Undertake / review risk assessments and SSOW as required in order to progress maintenance works inclusive of dynamic risk assessments.
  • Undertake training as required in order to enable maintenance activities to be carried out as required.
  • Subject to receiving the appropriate training and subsequent authorisation, issue relevant Permits / Permissions / Certificates of isolations in accordance with both ABP's procedures and statutory requirements ensuring works are undertaken in a safe manner.

 

About you:

You will be a fully qualified Electrical Technician with prior experience working within Industrial or Heavy Plant – ideally with some exposure to the ports, marine or logistics sector. Your background should be primarily maintenance focused and involve a high level of fault finding on a wide range of electrical equipment. Candidates who have worked with cranes, material handling, conveyor systems or lifting systems experience are of particular interest. You should ideally be qualified to HNC level and be apprentice served. A full driving licence is essential for the role. The role is available immediately due an internal promotion.

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

 

Essential:

  • Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent) in electrical bias
  • Time served
  • Maintenance experience
  • Strong fault finding abilities
  • Safety awareness
  • Computer skills
  • CMMS experience
