We are excited to announce two brand new Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) roles, created in response to Stena Line's introduction of an exciting new route. You will lead a team of vessel and freight operatives who handle all vessel and freight related activity at the Stena Line terminal.
Accountabilities
• Accountable for the management and development of a high performing, safety, and efficiency driven team circa 28 operatives and 12 freight team members.
• Deliver team briefings and damage prevention workshops to the team.
• Accountable for ensuring that all vessel discharge/loading operations are planned, managed, and executed in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
• Accountable for ensuring the vessel operation operates in line with all relevant legislation and works closely with agencies such as Border Force, Environment Agency, BCP etc. Ensuring we support their operations and all processes are followed.
• Collaborates with the Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Team enhance and improve the terminal’s general working and housekeeping standards.
• Accountable for achieving internal targets and contractual service level agreements (SLA) for our customer, Stena Line, reporting on the shift’s progress against these SLA’s.
• Accountable for investigating and report all damages and incidents ensuring a thorough report is completed and highlight any lessons we can learn to prevent in the future. Updating operatives damage records and discussing with 3rd party supplier.
• Responsible for the running of operatives/freight roster, ensuring sufficient manning levels and working time regulations are followed.
• Accountable for the management of holidays and absence, conduct and capability are monitored, and any issues actioned with the relevant labour supplier.
• Deputises for the Operations Manager as required
Skills, experiences & qualifications
• Valid UK Driving License
• A safety focused individual with a consistent record of leading the safety of a large team in a high paced, intense, 24-7 operational environment.
• Proven Operations Management experience with regards to vessel discharging and loading operations
• Strong business and commercial acumen
• Articulate and able to use a variety of communication channels.
• Evidence of motivating others, demonstrating energy and passion
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Strong IT skills evidenced in an operational environment.
• Able to handle resources to take care of an ever-changing schedule.
• Work under pressure and to tight deadlines
The shift pattern for the new vessel is yet to be confirmed, but it will include coverage up to 22:00 at night and weekends to ensure smooth operations and support the new route effectively. This will help accommodate the vessel's schedule and maintain high service standards.
