The Role: Management Accountant- Location: Hull – FTC 12 Months

 

The purpose:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the purpose of the role is to process accounting transactions within ABP’s Finance Shared Services (FSS) team in Port Business Services (PBS).

 

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of revenue accounting (including verification) to agreed standards within targeted timelines.
  • Produce and be responsible for timely, relevant, and accurate management and statutory accounts to support commercial decision making in the regions.
  • Ensure all documents are retained for control verification and to support internal and external audit reviews.
  • The Management Accountant within PBS will be responsible for the delivery of the following services for all parts of ABP:
  • Process journals and intercompany transactions.
  • This includes revenue recognition, cost allocation, capex, and maintenance spend. Collaborate with the team to ensure a quality result within agreed deadlines.
  • Produce regional reports and variance analysis.
  • Conduct routine and more in-depth analysis, monthly and year to date variance analysis, reporting and GL maintenance. Forecast cash flows.
  • Perform more complex balance sheet reconciliations and ensure related follow-up actions are taken, retaining a clear audit trail.
  • Perform financial close activities.
  • Revenue and Cost accounting
  • Statutory Accounting and Tax reporting
  • Handle capital expenditure related activities, AUC, and capitalised assets – ensuring assets are capitalised in a timely manner, IP packs etc.

 

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant – CIMA, ACCA, or ACA, or Qualified by experience with greater than 5 years of experience in relevant Finance related environments.
  • Experience of working in a service culture environment
  • Good understanding of respective end-to-end finance processes
  • Good understanding of accounting processes and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
