UK Dredging (UKD) is a wholly owned operating division of ABP, the UK’s leading port operator.

We are looking for an Assistant Hydrographic Surveyor to join the team based in Garston, Liverpool to provide survey related support for our operations.

  

The Role: Assistant Hydrographic Surveyor

Location: Based in Garston, Liverpool with Northwest Cover

Purpose: To assist in undertaking hydrographic surveys and survey related support for the UK Dredging fleet, ABP Ports and external clients across the UK and NW Europe.

 

 Accountabilities

  • Assist with the completion of navigation and dredge related hydrographic surveys (both Multibeam and Singlebeam) for ABP, UKD and external clients, including survey design, on site data collection, post processing, analysis, presentation and reporting.

  • Assist with the completion auxiliary survey tasks.

  • Assist with maintaining vessel and survey equipment to ensure that calibration, certification and servicing routines are completed in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.

  • Maintain and take responsibility for a healthy and safe working environment and work in accordance with company policy and statutory requirements at all times.

  • Help to maintain effective communication that supports company values and strategic pillars, motivates, and promotes engagement, culture, awareness and compliance across the fleet.

Skills, experiences, qualifications, and competencies

 

Essential

  • Full driving licence.

  • Highly organised with attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage priorities and work to challenging and sometimes changing objectives and deadlines.

  • Independent problem-solving ability.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Flexible approach to working hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends and willing to travel extensively throughout the UK and overseas as necessary. Ability to offer out of hours survey support when required.

Ideal

  • Educated to degree level, preferably in a marine/survey related discipline.

  • IT literate with good understanding of software and hardware
