Due to an internal move we're currently looking to recruit a Utilities Efficiency Manager to proactively manage the Wales & Short Sea Ports’ utilities consumption and customer recharges with the primary aim of reducing consumption across all utilities, including water, electricity and gas. The Wales & Short Sea region is our largest in terms of number of Ports with 16 individual sites through South Wales & the South West, East Anglia and North West & Scotland, working with a varied range of customers covering Construction Products, Timber, Dry Bulks, Cruise and Off-Shore wind as well as being home to a large number of tenants. The position will play a key role in the delivery of our two missions: ‘Keeping Britain Trading’ and ‘Enabling the Energy Transition’.

You should have prior experience in an energy management role with demonstrable results in driving consumption reduction. Candidates with experience in large infrastructure sites or multiple industrial tenanted sites are of particular interest, as are individuals who've completed relevant energy focused qualifications with IEMA. BRE or the Energy Institute.
Ideally we'd love to see exposure to:
- Understanding of utilities sector in wider market place
- Energy principles and practises – different tech and practical methods of energy reduction
- Project lifecycle – taking from scope to actuality
On a daily basis you'll work with the regions leadership teams to develop a robust regional utilities' strategy minimising energy wastage, improving efficiency and ensuring all third-party uses are accounted for and charged correctly. You'll work with our property and finance teams to manage customer relationships, whilst project managing agreed efficiency opportunities. You'll need to have strong communication skills with the need to deliver written and verbal reports across our teams to a number of different level stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical understanding of the wider energy market and utility networks together with a proven track record of delivery in all aspects of energy management
- Highly motivated individual who is passionate about reducing our carbon footprint
- Excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Computer skills (Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Driving licence
- Previous energy management experience
- Previous project management experience including managing contractors and budgets
