To support our ambitious growth, it is key for ABP to have a strong delivery engine for transforming new opportunities into reality. The Major Projects team lead the development and delivery of our major port infrastructure projects that directly deliver our twin missions of Keeping Britain Trading and Enabling the Energy Transition.


We are now seeking a Project Manager to join our dynamic team within the Major Projects function. The purpose of this role is to ensure the optimal delivery of the business case through strong cross-functional project management, with the returns of the project optimised throughout its lifecycle.

 

Our projects are delivered within our regional context and this role will deliver in strong collaboration with our regions and functions. This is critical to ensure we adapt to the local context and leverage the resources and expertise already established.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the commercial team to develop and deliver the project’s business case, ensuring optimal value for money / return on investment is secured.
  • Ensure all functional requirements are defined and tracked, facilitating cross-functional trade-offs where necessary.
  • Drive the development of options, design and implementation, responding to customer and business needs, ensuring scope and change is fully managed.
  • Manage the deliverables and performance of internal resources and contracted-in services, providing reporting and leadership to drive high performance from delivery partners.
  • Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement strategy that secures support, leading engagement in relevant forums.
  • Develop and implement a planning consent strategy, considering available options to secure consent in a timely manner.
  • Develop Project Execution plans in collaboration with the wider project team and identify the required professional and delivery services, working with procurement and functional leads to design and deliver best value support.
  • Ensure progress is made on time, within agreed budgets and meets quality standards, by proactively identifying / managing risk and opportunities, driving an effective end-to-end schedule and developing an effective resourcing plan.
  • Collaborate with Regional and Group experts, ensuring the project meets regional and Group needs in the operational, commercial and strategic context.
  • Manage the health, safety and wellbeing of the people delivering for ABP.

About You:
We’re looking for a results-driven professional with the skills to deliver complex projects in a dynamic environment.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrable track record of the successful development of complex capital infrastructure projects with a value in excess of GBP 20 million.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure consenting routes, including experience in managing a project through the planning process (e.g. pre-application, examination, discharge of conditions).
  • Demonstrable experience of leading high-performing teams across organisational functions and boundaries.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to understand functional drivers and effectively communicate with Executive level stakeholders.
