We have recently appointed a new Group Head of Procurement who has an exciting business plan in place. Due to this we are looking for a Procurement Specialist. This role is based in the UK with travel to various ABP Ports as well as the Group Procurement office in Hull and the Head office in London.

 

Job Purpose:

 

The purpose of the Procurement Specialist role is to lead the requirements and procurement planning for the Region and ensure supplier relationship management is delivered to meet the Region objectives by:

  • Developing high quality plans and using coordinated category management across ABP,
  • Focusing on bringing to bear and improving cost savings to the business,
  • Delivering best value and performance from the supply chain throughout the contract lifecycle,
  • Collaborating with colleagues, customers, partners, and team members to align acquisition or sourcing strategies for a campaign, bid, or product or project with the business needs in the short, medium, and long term.
  • Collaborating with collaborators, customers, partners, and team members to manage Procurement aspects, ensuring work packages are completed according to technical, program, cost, and performance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with the regional teams to define requirements, develop statements of work, and contract suppliers.
  • Own the Procurement Plan containing all requirements, specification, demand, and schedule information needed to procure and manage contracts in an efficient, timely and coordinated way.
  • Lead sourcing activities and the management of regional projects and facilitate cross-functional group planning and action.
  • Lead supplier event days and other internal/external communication forums aimed at developing and engaging with the supply base to improve performance.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the development of all types of market-facing documents in all relevant categories and types of procurement activity.
  • Effectively implement a defined and agreed work plan to deliver business objectives, cost efficiency targets, and supply chain risk management and performance.
  • Work with Category Specialists to undertake prioritised and coordinated procurement and SRM.
  • Coordinate project timelines, achievements, and prioritization of resources to ensure timely delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate key supplier performance, risks, and issues within the Projects (MP or regional), including service level agreements, key performance indicators, improvement plans and dispute avoidance/resolution.

About you:

Significant procurement experience with a matrix organisation required. Highly adept in contract management & negotiations. Knowledge and experience of delivering procurement projects. Capability to manage by influence and to convince. Ability to speak out and to handle conflicts / problem resolution. Understanding of the BL business model and of products’ lifecycles. Make or buy and risk management skills. Bring added customer value / capture innovation. Knowledge in cost evaluation, Design to Value, Lean approach. Basic skills in regulations (export control, Reach, etc...). Excellent IT skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge and experience of procurement under the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 or Public Contract Regulations 2015.

 

Ideal:

  • Experience of managing various forms of contract.
  • Experience of sourcing systems and purchase to pay modules in an Enterprise Resource Planning system, ideally SAP.
