The Role:  Service Delivery Operative

 

Purpose:

To deliver the port operations plan on a duty basis, and to undertake general port-related activities. To continually improve the performance of the port in its four key principles – safety, quality, service and efficiency.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Berthing of allocated vessels, including mooring and fender moves.
  • Work with the company to promote a safety culture, acting as an ambassador for the ‘Beyond Zero’ safety campaign. Also ensuring all works that are planned and carried out are done so in a safe manner.
  • Ensure the landside infrastructure is available and in place for vessel arrival and departure.
  • Ensure quayside and surrounding areas are kept to the agreed standard.
  • Regularly deliver improvement ideas around the four key service delivery principles, Safety, Quality, Service and Efficiency.
  • Support the maintenance team as required and directed to.
  • On a cruise shift work alongside the duty technicians to deliver a customer-centric service to the cruise vessels.
  • Installing, maintaining and removing infrastructure to set up temporary compounds and cruise facilities.

You will be a real team player, eager to get stuck into this exciting and fast-paced industry and work hard. The key to success in this role is teamwork, it is essential that you can use your initiative and be proactive.    

 

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Self-motivated with good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Good working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, with the ability to produce, update and issue SSOW and Risk Assessments as required
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation in all aspects of work.
  • Flexibility with regards to working hours and duties.
  • Full UK driving licence
