We are growing our team of data specialists to support a range of projects requiring applied GIS and data management skills.   We are looking for web and desktop GIS professionals specialising in data management, analysis and visualisation.

Marine consultancy and survey company ABPmer is looking for an experienced GIS analyst (consultant) to create spatial data products and interpret marine data for our wide client base.


This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their analytic and technical skills and immerse themselves in marine work.


About the role

Working closely with Data specialists and others within our wider consultancy team, you will provide projects with spatial data analysis and outputs to help inform decision-making in the coastal and marine space.


You will manage and contribute to a portfolio of projects commissioned by policy-makers, developers, conservation bodies and sea-users.  Tasks will include analysis and interpretation of spatial data (including 3D point cloud), developing spatial tools and products and data management/quality control.


As well as managing projects and providing technical input, you will also liaise with clients, support colleagues in using spatial data, contribute to bids, write reports and presenting your work externally and internally.


This role might be right for you if you have (Quals, skills and Exp):

  • Experience of ESRI software products, including ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro
  • Practical experience working with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise applications
  • Good coding proficiency of Python, ESRI Python APIs and ModelBuilder
  • Proficiency with relational databases (MS SQL Server) and SQL queries
  • Strong technical analysis and cartographic skills
  • Proven experience in managing data quality and quality control of outputs
  • Experience of applying GIS analysis to the coastal and marine environment
  • The ability to work efficiently and effectively manage multiple project deadlines
  • Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills
  • Working understanding of ArcGIS extensions (3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst)
  • Knowledge of CAD or OpenSource GIS software.
  • A degree in GIS or a closely-related subject
  • At least 3 years’ relevant (ideally marine) experience in a consultancy or regulatory body.
