Here at Associated British Ports (ABP) we are recruiting for a Marina Supervisor to lead the team and oversee day to day operations at Ipswich Haven Marina.


Ipswich has over 250 berths and is a major pillar within the ABP East Anglia portfolio. Our Marinas are focussed on customer service and all roles are customer facing roles. It is therefore crucial to feel confident and be willing to go above and beyond when interacting with our residents and visitors.


For this role we are looking for someone with a marina background that has experience in running a medium sized marina. You will have both an understanding of the administration as well as the operational side of running a marina.


You will have to desire to drive the business forward by delivering first class customer service and take initiatives to promote the marina as a whole and drive operational excellence.


You will be reporting to the Divisional Harbour Master and working closely with the Marina Supervisor in Lowestoft aiming to streamline processes and work practices. Ideally you have experience with Wise boat hoists and boat movers.


This role involves working weekends, bank holidays as part of a rota system with other team members and be on call.


As part of the marine team in East Anglia you will ensure the team is ready for its next chapter and where the right individual can progress accordingly.

  • Compliance with Safety Management Systems and company Health and Safety requirements/directives.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient running of the Ipswich Haven Marina.
  • Assist with training and familiarisation of new staff.
  • Deal with customers enquiries,
  • Coordinate boat lifts and storage.
  • Ensuring the efficient use of berthing pontoons and storage area ashore.
  • Assist with mooring and unmooring leisure vessels.
  • Sale of diesel to customers
  • Processing of invoices and receiving payment. Process End of Month documents.
  • Ordering stores and supplies to run the marina
  • Be part of the Oil Response Team for the East Anglia Ports.
  • Assist or provide cover in other marine departments, as and when required.


Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies


  • Ability to work unsociable hours, weekends and bank holidays as part of a roster.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Job relevant IT experience (Windows office package)
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of mandatory, regulatory and safety responsibilities relevant to the main duties
  • A flexible and committed approach to working within a small team that strives to provide a high-quality Port and Marine service
  • Have desire to work in the port industry
  • Have  good understanding of invoicing and credit control
