Bagging Operator

Location: Ipswich




To actively engage in the physical logistics of moving, storing and packaging (Bagging) of bulk cargo, to also include vessel and terminal cargo handling as required.




  • Operate material handling equipment: including vessel loading/discharging operations; cargo storage; warehouse duties; and re-delivery of cargo to transport
  • Ensure efficient stockpiling, storage and redelivery of bulk cargo at storage sites, ensuring the best use of space
  • Report any faults, breakdowns and damages to Operations Supervisor, ensuring they are appropriately recorded
  • Complete paperwork associated with various tasks to monitor activities
  • Ensure work completed is compliant with Health and Safety Legislation and adhere to Risk Assessments / SSOW / ABP Health & Safety Policy
  • Carry out operations in line with relevant regulations and accreditation schemes, including COMAH, and ensure product familiarisation (i.e. handling of Ammonium Nitrate)
  • To build good working relationships with customers, employees and lorry drivers
  • Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required.


Skills, Experience and Qualifications:


  • Experience of operating forklift trucks (ideally with current or recent qualifications)
  • Experience of operating loading shovels
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Good level of understanding of HSES Legislation and Port Security requirements (Essential)
  • To maintain flexibility and be self-motivated at all times (Essential)
  • To have undertaken Fertiliser Handling Training (COMAH/FIAS) (Ideal)
