Role: Semi-Skilled Engineer

Location: Immingham (Humber International Terminal)

 

Purpose:

To ensure that all ABP’s direct operations and agreed customer requirements are met at all times in line with accepted safety, environmental working and quality standards.

 

Accountabilities:

Ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environmental requirements and other legislation including contributing to the development and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.

  • To carry out the job role in accordance with company Safety Organisation and Arrangements policy.
  • Have a proactive approach towards the 6 strategic pillars and be proactive in – Putting customers first, creating a great workplace, working safely and sustainably, continual improvement, providing effective infrastructure & being good neighbours.
  • Carryout maintenance tasks in a diligent and timely manner in order to meet the requirements of port operations both individually and as part of a larger team (including third party contractors as required).  All in accordance with ABP’s Safety procedures, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work
  • To communicate as required during servicing operations and the repair of plant and equipment
  • To facilitate the auditing and organisation of the engineering buildings, yard and equipment stores.
  • Look to contribute to a continual improvement culture amongst staff, through the development of improved systems/procedures that will drive forward all aspects of the terminal operation.
  • Operate both ABP’s and hired vehicles, plant and equipment subject to any necessary training having been provided.

 

About you:

You will have prior experience within an engineering department ideally within the ports or heavy industry sectors, and have worked on a wide range of industrial equipment. You’ll need to be flexible in your approach and happy to assist with a variety of tasks within the department – this could mean assisting the engineers, undertaking lubrication and condition monitoring routines, general stock control and cleaning responsibilities. The role is covering days working 1 in 3 weekends.

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

 

Essential:

  • A sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Service and Customer driven with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Pro-active approach.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Engineering Maintenance Experience
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience of operating plant and equipment

 

Ideal:

  • Experience of a computerised work order system.
  • Previous experience of working in a port or similar environment
  • Good understanding of the companies Polices and Procedures
  • Sound I.T skills which should include Outlook, Excel & Word
