Role: Fitter

Location: Immingham (Humber International Terminal)

 

Purpose:

To ensure that all ABP’s direct operations and agreed customer requirements are met at all times in line with accepted safety, environmental working and quality standards.

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environmental requirements and other legislation including contributing to the development and review of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and TBT’s as required.
  • To carry out the job role in accordance with company Safety Organisation and Arrangements policy and in accordance with Process Safety requirements.
  • Have a proactive approach towards the 6 strategic pillars and be proactive in – Putting customers first, creating a great workplace, working safely and sustainably, continual improvement, providing effective infrastructure & being good neighbours.
  • Carryout maintenance works in a diligent and timely manner in order to meet the requirements of port operations both individually and as part of a larger team (including third party contractors as required).  All in accordance with ABP’s Safety procedures, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work
  • To communicate as required during servicing operations and the repair of plant and equipment.
  • Look to contribute to a continual improvement culture amongst staff, through the development of improved systems/procedures that will drive forward all aspects of the terminal operation.
  • Maintain the ‘preventative maintenance’ programme within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required in order that information may be both entered and retrieved, including the entering/creation of work orders for unplanned works.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Semi-Skilled Engineers and Apprentices in undertaking the works in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.
  • Operate both ABP’s and hired vehicles, plant and equipment subject to any necessary training having been provided.
  • Undertake all works commensurate with both their trade and other disciplines subject to either appropriate training or ability to carry out the works.

 

About you:

You will be a fully qualified mechanically biased engineer with experience of working in the industrial or heavy commercial sectors. The role is a days based role, working 1 in 3 weekends. You will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance process for all mechanical plant at our Humber International Terminal which includes conveyors, cranes, heavy bulk handling and lifting systems.

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

 

Essential:

  • A sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
  • An understanding of Process Safety.
  • Time served with an Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent) in a mechanical bias.
  • Maintenance Experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Service and Customer driven with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Pro-active approach.
  • Sound I.T skills which should include Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Strong problem solving skills

 

Ideal:

  • Experience of a computerised work order system.
  • Previous experience of working in a port or similar environment
  • Good understanding of the companies Policies and Procedures
  • Experience of Compex or DSEAR
  • Experience of operating plant and equipment
