Electrical Chargehand

Location: Immingham - HIT

 

Purpose

To support the Supervisor and work within the Humber International Terminal. To ensure that all ABP’s direct maintenance operations and agreed customer requirements are met at all times in line with accepted safety, environmental working and quality standards.

 

Accountabilities

  • Uphold ABP’s safety culture and ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environmental requirements and other legislation including the development and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, delivering associated TBT’s as required.
  • Complete the job role in accordance with company Safety Organisation and Arrangements policy.
  • Contribute towards the 6 strategic pillars and be proactive in – Putting customers first, creating a great workplace, working safely and sustainably, continual improvement, providing effective infrastructure & being good neighbours.
  • Support the Supervisor in the day-to-day supervision of Maintenance Operations at Humber International Terminal and taking a lead role on night shifts, ensuring that the plan is delivered through expedient planning and effective use of the available staff, equipment and service providers.
  • Perform higher level Authorised Persons duties as required following successful completion of training and competency assessment.
  • Complete maintenance works in a diligent and timely manner in order to meet the requirements of port operations both individually and as part of a larger team (including third party contractors as required).  All in accordance with ABP’s Safety procedures, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Ensure that regular communications are given to supervisors or managers as required on the status of servicing operations and or the repair of plant and equipment.
  • Assist in ensuring that damages and accidents/incidents are investigated and documented in line with Company procedures.  Ensure that necessary reports are completed and that recommendations for improvement are reviewed and implemented where appropriate. 
  • Assist the Supervisory Team in the ongoing leadership, development and training of all team members ensuring the jobholders have sufficient knowledge to be able to operate independently on a day to-day basis.
  • Contribute to a continual improvement culture amongst staff, through the development of improved systems/procedures that will drive forward all aspects of the terminal operation.
  • Issue of safety documentation to include permits, permissions and isolation certificates in line with the permissions detailed within the respective authorisation cards.
  • Maintain the ‘preventative maintenance’ programme within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required in order that information may be both entered and retrieved, including the entering/creation of work orders for unplanned works
  • Manage maintenance activities (including statutory inspections) ensuring works are undertaken and completed as required.

Essential Skills

  • Experience of working in a heavy industrial sector – ideally the ports sector
  • A sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation with experience of driving forward safety initiatives, audits and compliance
  • Experienced in delivery of excellent customer service with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Sound I.T skills which should include Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Time served with an Electrical Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent)
  • Strong problem solving skills

 

Ideal Skills

  • Experience of working in a Continuous Improvement culture within a process driven environment.
  • Experience of CMMS Mainsaver.
  • Experience of Compex
