Our Humber International Terminal can handle up to 20 million tonnes of dry bulk cargoes per year and is able to accommodate vessels carrying cargoes up to 130,000 tonnes each. Offering our customers a strategic location to import and export agribulks and energy bulks to Keep Britain Trading. 

 

Due to an internal move we're currently looking to recruit an Electrical Technician on a permanent basis to work a rotating shift pattern including days and nights with a contracted 39 weekly hours. Ideally with some exposure to HV Switching and COMPEX you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across our Terminal. 
 

Accountabilities
•    Ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environmental requirements and other legislation including contributing to the development and review of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and TBT’s as required.
•    To carry out the job role in accordance with company Safety Organisation and Arrangements policy.
•    Have a proactive approach towards the 6 strategic pillars and be proactive in – Putting customers first, creating a great workplace, working safely and sustainably, continual improvement, providing effective infrastructure & being good neighbours.
•    Carryout maintenance works (including HV/LV switching) in a diligent and timely manner in order to meet the requirements of port operations both individually and as part of a larger team (including third party contractors as required). All in accordance with ABP’s Safety procedures, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
•    To communicate as required during servicing operations and the repair of plant and equipment
•    Look to contribute to a continual improvement culture amongst staff, through the development of improved systems/procedures that will drive forward all aspects of the terminal operation.
•    Maintain the ‘preventative maintenance’ programme within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required in order that information may be both entered and retrieved, including the entering/creation of work orders for unplanned works.
•    Provide support and guidance to the Semi-Skilled Engineers and Apprentices in undertaking the works in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.
•    Operate both ABP’s and hired vehicles, plant and equipment subject to any necessary training having been provided.
•    Undertake all works commensurate with both their trade and other disciplines subject to either appropriate training or ability to carry out the works.

 

Skills & Experience 

Essential 
•    A sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation 
•    Service and Customer driven with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels 
•    Pro-active approach 
•    Sound I.T skills which should include Outlook, Excel & Word 
•    Full UK Driving Licence 
•    Time served with an Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent) in an electrical bias 
•    Maintenance Experience 
•    Strong problem solving skills 
Ideal 
•    Experience of a computerised work order system 
•    Previous experience of working in a port or similar environment 
•    Good understanding of the companies Polices and Procedures 
•    HV switching experience 
•    Experience of COMPEX
•    Experience of operating plant and equipment
